What is the italki Rescheduling Policy?

italki allows for teachers and students to automatically reschedule lessons if both the teacher and student are in agreement

There may be instances in which there is agreement to reschedule a lesson but the rescheduling process is not finalized because either the student or teacher fails to respond. In these situations, italki will take the following steps to close out the lesson and distribute the credits:

Neither the Student nor Teacher propose a new time/date

If in 7 days neither the student nor the teacher proposes a new time/date, the lesson will be cancelled and the credits will be evenly split between the student and the teacher.

  • Note:Of the credits that are awarded to the teacher, italki will take a 15% commission as usual.

One party proposes a new time/date and the other party does not respond

If one party proposes a new time/date and the other party does not respond to the request (Accept / Decline / Modify) within 7 days, the rescheduled lesson request will expire and the credits will be awarded to the party that made the initial proposal.

For example, the student proposes a new time/date and the teacher does not accept, decline or modify the student’s reschedule request within 7 days. The credits will be returned to the student 7 days after the reschedule request was made or when the reschedule time passes.

If the teacher proposes a new time/date and the student does not accept, decline or modify the teacher’s reschedule request, the credits will be given to the teacher 7 days after the reschedule request was made or when the reschedule time passes. If the credits are awarded to the Teacher, italki will take a 15% commission of the teacher’s fees as normal.

Also note, the party that fails to respond to a reschedule request will also receive a missed attendance mark for the rescheduled lesson once the credits have been transferred.
