What are "Personal Tags" and how can I use them?

You can manage your personal tags by going to your Teacher Settings > https://www.italki.com/settings/profile

There are 3 types of Teacher "Tags" that you can use to show what you do best on italki.

  • Teaching Specialties - show which students you would most like to teach
  • Personal Tags - let students know more about you and your lessons
  • Teacher Quality Tags - students choose what they most appreciate about you

With personal tags, you can quickly communicate your areas of expertise, teaching style, hobbies and interests. Tags can help your potential students connect with you on a personal and professional level.

Use your personal tags to choose 10 words that best describe you and your lessons. Students will be able to see these tags in the Find a Teacher List and on your profile. They cannot search for you by tag, but can read them when they check your profile.

How do I add or edit my Personal Tags?

You may add up to 10 personal tags.

Spelling, language, and punctuation matters. So each of the following would count as a different tag:

  • Accent
  • accent
  • ACCENT
  • 口音

You may remove or add tags at any time. Your choice of tags is entirely up to you. We recommend that you try different kinds of tags and see what seems best to you and your students.

How to add a tag: Type a tag into the box, and hit "enter" on the keyboard and then click "Save" button.

Delete a tag: Click the "x" on the tag to delete it.

Move a tag: Click the three lines "" on a tag to move it. Drag it to the position you want. Only the first 5 tags will be shown in the Find a Teacher List. All 10 tags will be displayed on your teacher profile.

Be sure to click Save to update your teacher profile.
