italki expects teachers to be professional and attend scheduled lessons on time. Missed attendance will negatively affect the "Attendance Rate"on a teacher’s profile. Please note that instant booking feature will be disabled if you missed more than 1 lesson.
italki Teacher Attendance Policy
Missed Attendance Report: A missed attendance report will be recorded in our system if a teacher does not attend one (or more) scheduled lesson in 1 day.
Examples:
- In 1 day (UTC time), a teacher did not attend 1 scheduled lesson (1 report )
- In 1 day (UTC time), a teacher did not attend five scheduled lessons (1 report)
- In 1 day (UTC time), a teacher did not attend 1 scheduled lesson, and then the next day (UTC time), the teacher did not attend 5 scheduled lessons (2 reports)
For each report, italki will send a message to the teacher.
1st report: Reminder
- italki sends a reminder email and message notice to the teacher.
- Teacher profile will be temporarily hidden from the "Find a Teacher List" until the teacher responds to the notice (current students and upcoming lessons will not be affected).
- The teacher can acknowledge the missed attendance and indicate that they are prepared to continue attending scheduled lessons by clicking the link in the email. This will prove the teacher is active and also restore the teacher profile to the "Find a Teacher List."
2nd report: First Warning
- italki sends a first warning email and message notice to the teacher.
- Teacher profile will be hidden from "Find a Teacher List" for 7 days. Teacher profile availability status is set to "Not Looking for New Students" (current students and upcoming lessons are not affected).
- After 7 days, the teacher can reset their own status to "Allow lesson requests from All Students" again under Availability Settings if they wish and are able to continue attending lessons.
3rd report: Final Warning
- italki sends a final warning email and message notice to the teacher.
- Teacher profile will be hidden from "Find a Teacher List".
- Students will NOT be able to request lessons from the teacher's profile for 30 days (upcoming lessons will not be affected), after which the teacher can reset their own status to "Looking for New Students" again if they wish and are able to continue attending lessons.
- Teacher Wallet will be frozen for 30 days.
- italki staff may cancel upcoming lessons later on if the teacher's account appears inactive and the teacher does not respond to messages.
- After 30 days, the teacher can reset their own status to "Allow lesson requests from All Students" again under Availability Settings if they wish and are able to continue attending lessons.
4th report: Teacher Profile Deactivation
- Teacher Profile is deactivated.
- Teacher Wallet is frozen.
- Upcoming lessons are canceled and refunded to students.
- italki sends an email and message notice to the teacher.
- To access Teacher Wallet, please raise a ticket to italki support.
How do I find out my miss lesson status?
You will receive email and message notifying you that you have miss lesson(s). You will also find your miss lesson status under Teacher Settings>>Lessons and Availability>>Availability Settings.
You will be able to change your status to “Allow Lessons from All students” after the penalty period is over or by clicking a reactivation link in a missed lesson notification email, depending on the times of reports.
