Privacy and Safety
At italki, we take the following measures in order to maintain the privacy and safety of our users.
Your Profile Visibility - On italki, there is a social learning component to the platform. Here, students can learn with other students from around the world. If a student wishes not to be messaged by the community, they can choose to take their profile off the language partner page and to not receive “follower requests”.
Blocking Specific Users - If you do come across a user who you wish to block, you can simply click the “Block” function on italki.
Lesson Safety - We take any misconduct by teachers (and students) very seriously at italki. Any teacher that is reported for misconduct is removed from the italki system. Teachers value their professional reputation on italki and do not want to risk any damage to it. Teachers spend years building a reputation on italki to attract online students, and a bad reputation limits their ability to find new students or charge a higher price.
