Update: January 30, 2019
Please update your browser (Firefox or Chrome) to enjoy the latest version of italki Classroom.
Before the lesson
When you click the "Join Lesson" button on the lesson detail page, you will be taken to the italki Classroom tutorial.
After the tutorial (when you have given permission for italki Classroom to use your microphone and camera) you will be led to the classroom, and you will see a countdown to the lesson start time.
During the lesson
When the lesson starts the countdown will disappear and the exact start time of the lesson will be displayed instead.
You can also click on the message, settings, and connection problems icons on the top right if you want to message your student or teacher, adjust your settings, or fix a connection problem.
If you would like to turn off the microphone or camera, you can click the microphone and camera icons at the bottom of the screen, and a notification will appear confirming your action.
After the lesson
Once the lesson is over, you will have the opportunity to give feedback on your italki Classroom experience. If you give a positive rating you will be sent back to the lesson detail page. If the rating is negative, you will have the chance to answer a simple survey and give us more feedback so we can improve italki Classroom.

The English used on this New Interface was definitely not written by a native English speaker and is full of terrible mistakes everywhere! You need to get a native English speaker to look at everything on the New Interface and modify it, so that it looks and sounds like English because, at the moment, it's absolutely appalling!!!
A rather concerned student and teacher of English!
Cheers!
Nick
Some mistakes:
- click *** JOIN LESSON button
- the new tutorial *of* our new interface.
- by *allowing* your microphone and camera
- you will *lead to* the italki classroom
- but show the exact time the lesson *has* taken.
- You can also *click*ing* (Oh, deary me!!! Level A1 mistake that one!!!!!) Ouch!!!!!
- you *may* click (A native speaker would not use "may" here!)
I could go on, but I think you get the idea from the few examples I've highlighted!
(For your information, I worked as an IELTS Speaking Test Examiner for more than 5 years in Hong Kong and Japan - and I also marked the IELTS Written Test in Hong Kong for 2 years. I've also worked as an Examiner for Cambridge University for many years, especially for FCE, CAE, CPE Oral Exams - as well as KET and PET Exams.) I'm an exam specialist in FCE, CAE and CPE and I've been teaching IELTS since 1985 - mainly to private students in all 8 countries I worked in - including the UK!)
An even more concerned student and teacher of English (now that I've looked at the mistakes in more detail!!!)
All the best!
Nick
