To edit your Availability settings, go to Teacher Settings on top of the page and click on Lessons and Availability - Availability Settings.
Now, choose your Lesson Request Availability Settings and set your Availability Setting Description to "Allow lesson requests from Current Students or Nobody".
There are currently three availability options:
- Allow lesson requests from All Students - This option will show your profile on teacher search and any student will be able to request a lesson from you.
- Allow lesson requests from Current Students - This option will remove your profile from teacher search and only students who have already taken a lesson with you once before will be able to request another lesson. Old students can still request lessons. New students will not be able to request a lesson, but they can send you a message.
- Allow lesson requests from Nobody - This option will prevent you from showing up on the "Find a Teacher" list so new students can't find you or send you lesson requests. This will also prevent you from receiving lesson requests from both new and current students. You may also provide an explanation in the text box (optional) such as “I am on holiday”, which will be displayed on your teacher profile.
If you are unable to change your availability setting from “Allow lesson requests from Current Students”, please check if you have missed lessons or lesson requests. You will find your missed lessons and missed lesson requests status above “Allow Lessons from Current Students.” A message will be displayed under your lesson request availability status, for example, "You are currently unable to change this status for 7 days because you have missed 3 lesson requests.”
By clicking the question mark, you will be able to find an explanation of what the consequences of missed lessons and missed lesson requests are. You will be able to change your status to “Allow Lessons from All students” after the penalty period is over or by clicking a reactivation link in a missed lesson/missed lesson request notification email or by contacting italki support, depending on the times of reports.
