    I personally dislike the fact that we can no longer look for and message premium users (students) to market ourselves, I expect the amount of student outreach to decline massively

    I guess your goal was losing students and teachers, because that seems to be the only possible consequence of your choices. I'm totally disappointed, in particular about the instant tutoring thing.

    I just noticed you have removed instant lessons possibility and I really want to know WHY?

    It was one of the detail why I selected Italki platform for my language studies. (Now over 850 lessons in Italki)

    Instant lesson possibility is good for advanced multilingual students like me to practice in fly some language in informal way
    when it is needed. It is not for beginners, but it is also good way for the new teachers to get some attention at the beginning
    when they are starting their teaching work. By my opinion this decision will decrease interest for your platform as advanced students
    as well as decreasing the new community tutors to get their work starting.

    I hope you will think about this still a bit and make it available again.
    I am speaking by my experiencies like very active student in italki and when working correctly and following the common rules in italki, there will not be any problem but when making all the time the site more confusing is not really a good idea.

    In adittion, I think that instant tutoring was the best tool for getting new students. Lots of students were incorporating to italki by the mere fact of the instant tutoring. It was a great source for getting new students.

    Instant Tutoring - I just don't understand why this is being removed. I feel like I'm having to say goodbye to students who are only able to use instant tutoring due to their work or lifestyle. Until now, I know some students have used italki solely due to having the option of immediate help with projects, essays and presentations, for example. I realise it may not be the best it can be (I haven't worked out the algorithm which decides the order in which tutors are displayed... seems pretty random) but what is the reason why it can't be kept until there is a form of improvement??

    Messages - I hope for a major update on this. Tutors have notifications in "messages" (including "Lesson starts in 120 minutes" notifications, "Lesson starts in 30 minutes" notifications, "The student still needs to confirm..." notifications and "The lesson has been confirmed as completed" notifications. Surely it can be seen how messages from the student can be lost within the sea of notifications. Perhaps have messages as actual messages exchanged with the student, and then there can be a link to view notifications within the conversation (or just somewhere easily accessible).

    Es una lástima que quiten tutoría instantánea.
    Muchas veces no hay suficientes clases para dar programadas y puedes apoyarte con tutoría instantánea.

    Para los estudiantes, conozco muchos que por situaciones laborales o familiares no siempre pueden programar una lección y cuando tiene un tiempo libre, utilizan tutoría instantánea.

    I found out that the new version does not let us update our status as before. Now only the option of "I am looking for new students or not" is available. If we go traveling or have something to tell students, then we can only update it in personal data, but it needs italki approval. This is very inconvenient! Hope to restore this or have a better alternative. Thank you.

    Atra عطرة If the student does not notify me, I wait 10 minutes, because even if you do not notify me to reschedule for some time I will charge the class as complete, that made other students could not mark at the same time. For some reason everyone can write what they want in the cancellation policy.In my profile I wrote: Please note that canceling less than 24h means that someone else can not book in your place and if you do not let me know, I only wait 10 minutes and if you do not show up I will charge the class. I do not know if this message continues to appear or not.

    Removing instant tutoring is a terrible idea.  Like many, I can't schedule lessons in advance and take advantage when I can.  Without instant tutoring I probably won't be booking any lessons through Italki until next winter, when I have  more time in my schedule.  Really disappointed.  If anything, Italki needed MORE instant tutoring.

    I will be unable to use italki to book new lessons without instant tutoring given the nature of my schedule. I hope I'm contacted when they bring it back, else I will just have to pay language tutors/partners the old fashion way: PayPal and Venmo.

    I still wanted to say that almost half of my lessons (870) has been instant tutoring lessons. It has been really nice option for me when I have had some extra spare time and I have noticed that I need some practise in some of my learned languages. This is not possible in other way. My lessons will markable decrease now if instant tutoring will not be placed back on the site. I think the same will be happened with all the serious language learners as well as teachers could search better sites to start their teaching careers. That's the SHAME by my opinion and a BIG minus for Italki.

They are already losing students, many are leaving and there are no guarantees that or others will come, because many want classes without scheduling, because they do not have time.

    Cambly é só para ingles. Verbling in the first class with the student A they charge 100%, second class with A 50%, if you have student, student B and only have a class with you they will charge again 100%. You will work for free.

    Please, consider adding "-subtract" button in the calendar. So there would be 2 buttons: "Add" and "Subtract". That would make life easier for teachers. I guess teachers asked to add this functionality for a while, it's a pity to see that the new version of the site still doesn't have it. Although the overall design of the new site is very nice and neat.

    Although I don't use Instant Tutoring recently, but I agree with other teachers who ask not to remove this functionality. 

    Thanks for leaving 45 and 90 min lessons and for trying to make the site better.

    Are you removing language partners, articles, etc? 

    That is so unique to Italki and such great features to language learning from a distance.

    I am learning Spanish and I don't know Spanish people apart from my tutor who I am comfortable with to practice my Spanish, but not knowing who you are asking is a lot more comfortable.

    I see no reason why Instant Tutoring is being removed. It's a very useful tool for both teachers and students. If you're looking to make a better version of this in the future, just keep the old version for now and replace it with the new one once it's ready. Please don't remove it.

    The separation of teacher and student site is very annoying. This change should be reversed.

    The number of notifications should be shown as before rather than a red dot.

    Instant Tutoring should be brought back.

    The previous interface was much better though. You could have just redesigned the same structure instead of bringing in a new structure. Take some tips from Facebook for instance

    Reuben I totaly agree with you. I've students who could only take instant lessons because of the kind of job they have. Not everyone can schedule lessons. Some of them even send me a message on skype so I can stay online an give to them an instant tutoring, now it will not be possible

    Mohammed, formerly the messages of the classes and the normal messages were separated. Now they're together. Then I do not want to get an hour-by-hour message that I'm going to have a class and how much time to start. I agree with you that seeing the notification number, like 10 notifications is more interesting than a point.

    This continues to exist for teachers who want this to be visible in their profiles. This is in the curriculum part.

    Thank you very much for not removing 45 and 90 minutes lessons. On Dele's preparation, my students prefer 90 minutes classes. And , 45 minutes ones are a good choice for a lot of people.

    I don't understand very well how are we customizing curses.

    I honestly liked it when they had the options like this: https://www.speakinglatino.com/italki-lesson-5-find-a-teacher/. The students could press directly and everyone knew what it was.

    What they should do:

    1-Put again instant tutoring;

    2-Remove two sites: Student and teacher. This only disturbs, in the classical version there were no problems;

    3-Re-accept articles;

    4-In the version student version and teacher in the beta site there isn't: Article, discussions, notebooks, questions, linguistic partners etc. I do not know how we searc for partners, it appears to say "contacts" and that's it;

    5-I do not know where the wallet is with the student's money. In the classic version is easy we have one near the other;

    6-When we edit a course the time of the classes is not in order, it appears: 60, 30, 45 and 90 minutes.

    Guys, Why Instant Tutoring was removed?

    Please tell us that is not going to disappear, there is no better way for me to catch new students like having instant tutoring.

    I'm sure that you are affecting more than helping the community with this decision. Why?

    And why don't you keep separated messages, notifications and requests?

    Let's make something like Facebook:

    • One option ONLY FOR LESSONS REQUESTS (We will give quicker answers to our students = Good customer experience)
    • One ONLY FOR MESSAGES (PLEASE, THINK IN YOUR CUSTOMER "STUDENTS" SERVICE)
    • Another for NOTIFICATIONS (120, 30, 15 mins) and lessons confirmation.

    I really hope that you return the instant tutoring, if you are planning to create an update of that service that's OK but please let us know that this feature is not going to disappear.

    And please work in the teacher and student experience by improving this messages, requests and notification problems.

    Thank you for keeping the 45 mins class but, please, inform us that you are reading and listening us, so we can be sure that you will improve in the future and things will change for good.

    Everyone keeps asking why but step back and take a look.   

     Italki has always been a platform that tutors can join where the platform provides the calendar, booking ability, takes care of the payment,  etc but the teachers have had full control over what and how they taught.  The could and did bring their own students to the site and had free reign. There was also the community where learns and tutors could interact, ask questions etc.  Students and teachers alike used the site because it was like this. 

    Now they are taking away some of the teachers ability to make decisions and to be their own bosses.  This can be seen by the no show policy. They are being more restrictive.  They want the students to have lessons, with approved lesson plans.  The students can not just come and find a tutor.

    The whole community has vanished overnight.  

    What the are doing is changing Italki from a platform where the teacher could use the services of Italki, and pay a fee, into just another online school. I think this is the first step in a series of changes that will happen where the teacher lose their ability to be their own bosses. 

    I hope the bosses are prepared to see a significant fall in both students and tutors and neither joined Italki because it was just another online school.  The joined because it was more unique.  It appealed to the busy mostly European students who like flexibility.  It appealed to many young adult learners and they loved the community and language exchange.  It appealed to the tutors as they are self-employed professional teacher. If they wanted to work for one of the many online companies that control everything they do they could but they don't want to.

    Fredo Already disappeared. They have eliminated instant, but solving the annoying problem of messages that we complain a long time they do not do anything

    I refuse to sit and wait for a student for 60 minutes. My time is worth something although not to you Italki. Also why removed instant tutoring before you have a replacement ready. That seems more than a little illadvised.
