Oh and the calendar, just noticed this. The times are not even in the right order!!! They are all over the place!! How can a class at 4pm be above a class at 2pm. At least put the lessons in the right order!!

Yes, disappear now. It's a shame but I have programmer students who have told me that programming the instant tutoring is not for everyone and many do not have that capability and that it takes a lot of work.

Actually the only Chinese students I have are from Hong Kong and Macao. I rarely have Chinese students.

I think they really know how to make things worse.

Removing instant tutoring is a really bad idea. Many students use it when they have a spare 30 min and eventually come back if they liked the teacher. Instant tutoring was bringing in a lot of new potential students and it's a bad decision to stud down something that has been working so well for both parties. This decision is harmful to Italki community.

Yes, you have chosen the date wisely I must say. Would the change to the NEW and BETTER? have happened yesterday, we still could consider it to be a joke, just what it seems to be in first place. Removing Instant Tutoring is a sad thing and nobody of us will ever understand the reasons behind this decision - server capacities, programming? Makes no sense at all!!!

Italki is under development so it's foreseeable and acceptable.

I wish there was a vote or something to feel that our opinions were heard, to feel that we are part of this, after all it's 15%.  Instant tutoring maybe not look as good as formal lessons on italk's financial statement, but certainly benefiting a lot of teachers and students, also saved Italki a lot of money on marketing, since i've been recommending people to come all the time. Personally i think the removal of Instant tutoring will give bad influence for the word-of-mouth effect, at least from the teacher side. Since Instant tutoring is the top one feature i can think of to differentiate italki from other platforms

Benfang, Students have already told me they are canceling their student accounts because they can't do instant tutoring.  Sot it will have an impact on the Italki bottom line.  But it will have a greater effect on some tutors who relied on instant tutoring for a good% of their income. In effect, they have just be fired.

you are making this harder for students than it already was, you should consider people that struggle with technology.

Benfang some students just want this kind of class! If I do not have time to schedule classes then I will stop taking classes. There are students who will leave the site because it no longer suits them

Takara Yukari   Development indicates building something new.  They had a perfectly good and functioning site.  They are now looking to morph it into something else. Something that the contractors who contract the site to supply a platform, did not agree to or want.  I think they are trying to make it more like the other Asian online schools while forgetting that their current student base is not Asian.  But maybe they will be working hard to change that as well.

It would be nice to at least have some time table on when the instant tutoring is coming back... While it seems very appropriate to do so at the moment, could it be we are getting worked up for more than necessary?

Again, I doubt it, but if this future idea is in a week or two, that would at least somewhat allay some anxiety.

When I had time I was always online. Some students like it and it's easy for us. Ending this is bad for everyone. There are students with no time for normal /regular lessons

Could we have our lessons all in one page?

Students could miss the drop-down list and think we teach only what's visible at first glance.

CJ Lee    I suspect it is on the never-never plan.  If they knew it was scheduled to be a week or a month away they would have said so. Instead, they just say they will keep us informed.  And of course, many or most of the students who used it will already be moving on.

Sharon there are students who are canceling and so italki will lose money because they are canceling the accounts. They might put the instant tutoring again

Yes,  I accepted an instant tutoring request from a regular student for the last time this morning. It has now been removed from the website :(

He and myself are deeply unimpressed by this and italki you have lost so many paying customers because of this.

    Thanks a lot.

I cannot remove time slots in my calendar - absolute disaster! Have informed italki support already, but my - there is so much wrong with this page.... How can you release this before it has been tested properly? Now we don't have an alternative and have to work with a faulty website. Awful!

Well, I've just got some messages from some students who were using exclusively instant tutoring with me. They are cancelling their accounts and moving on. ITALKI YOU ARE LOOSING MONEY JUST AS WE DO!

Before removing the instant tutoring, you should at least wait that the “new and improved feature in the future.” is available

And how about the mix of messages and the notifications, those issues have still not been addressed.

Also, I saw above in the comments a very interesting suggestion: an option for students to book in less than 24 hours in advance. It’s a great idea.
