What’s Hyperwallet identity verification and why do I need to do it?
Hyperwallet is a PayPal service that provides fast, efficient, and transparent payment services throughout the globe.
In order to ensure compliance with AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and CTF (Counter Terrorist Financing) regulations, Hyperwallet requires some teachers to verify their identity.
This process only applies to teachers located in the EEA (European Economic Area). This includes teachers who are European citizens and teachers who currently reside in the EU.
Teachers will be asked to undergo identity verification when their accumulated withdrawal amount reaches 2,500 EUR (3,000 USD) within 365 days from their first successful withdrawal.
For example, if you’re a teacher in Europe who recently withdrew 1,000 EUR through the updated PayPal, you would not be asked to verify your identity until your withdrawals totaled 2,500 EUR.
Verifications can take 1 - 3 business days to be processed and will be reviewed by the PayPal Compliance team.
If you are required to undergo identity verification, all transfers out of your account will be paused until the verification is complete.
What documents do I need for the verification process?
The following documents may be requested to complete the verification:
- Proof of identification, such as one of the following:
- Passport
- Driver's license
- Government ID card
- Proof of address, such as one of the following:
- Bank or credit card statement
- Utility bill
- Government letter
Document requirements
- Both front and back of the document must be submitted, except for passports.
- Name on the document must be an exact match with the name of the payee.
- Documents must be dated and valid (expired documents are not permitted).
- All four corners must be clearly visible.
- Documents must be in color.
- Document must be readable and of good quality.
- Size: min 400KB – max 4MB
- Format: .pdf, .jpg or .png
Proof of address documents will be validated based on the following requirements:
- Name on the document must be an exact match with the name of the payee.
- Address on the document must be an exact match with the address of the payee.
- Document must be dated and should not be more than 90 days old.
- Document must be readable and of good quality.
- Size: min 30KB – max 4MB
- Format: .pdf, .jpg or .png
If your documents don’t meet these requirements, the verification won’t be successful.
