Boost Your Profile Feature for italki Teachers

Q1: What is the "Boost Your Profile" feature, and how does it help me?

The "Boost Your Profile" feature provides data-driven suggestions to help you optimize your teacher profile. 

It highlights key performance metrics (e.g., profile views, video plays, booking starts) and student demographics (e.g., top countries, languages, interests). By understanding these trends, you can tailor your profile and offerings to attract more students and improve engagement. 

The feature is currently displayed at the bottom of your teacher dashboard.

Q2: What do these metrics mean?

• Profile Views: Unique registered students who viewed you.
• Video Plays: Registered students who watched your introduction video.
• Booking Starts: Students who started the booking process (even if incomplete).
• New Bookings: New students who sent their first lesson request. 
• Benchmarks: Hover over the metrics to see benchmarks. The green arrows indicate when your metrics exceed the median performance of other teachers teaching the same language(s) as you.

Q3: How does italki give profile insights? Do I have to follow them?

Insights are given on a monthly basis. They are based on the analysis  of your profile performance and the student data over the past two months. These are optional recommendations, you'll retain full control over your profile and offerings.

Q4: When are the data and insights updated?

• Daily: Profile performance data updates at 4 AM UTC+0.
• Monthly: Insights regenerate automatically when you visit your dashboard after the 1st of each month. New teachers receive their first insights in their second month.
  
  

Q5: Why can’t I see any performance or student data on my dashboard?

 This may occur if:

• You’re a newly onboarded teacher (data starts accumulating after your first month).
• You've had no student interactions in the past 180 days.
• Data is still loading (refreshes daily at 4 AM UTC+0) 

Q6: How do I use AI to optimize my "About Me" section?

1. Click the "Improve with AI" button (bottom-right of your "About Me" section in profile settings).
2. Review AI-generated suggestions. You can regenerate up to 3 times every 3 months.
3. You can choose to edit, accept, or discard the suggestions.
4. Click "Update Profile" to save changes.

Note: After saving, the "Improve with AI" button will disappear and reappear 3 months after your last update.

Q7: Should I use the AI-generated "About Me" text?

The AI suggestions are optional and designed to inspire you. You can edit them freely or write your own version. Your profile remains entirely under your control.
