What is a Lesson Summary?
A Lesson Summary is a "Smart Lesson" learning tool that automatically organizes key learning content from your lessons in italki Classroom. It helps you quickly review what was covered without needing to take manual notes during your session.
The basic version includes:
- Topics: A brief overview of the subjects discussed.
- Vocabulary: Key words and definitions introduced during the lesson.
- Grammar: Explanations of the sentence structures and rules covered.
For italki Plus subscribers, the summary is enhanced with advanced insights:
- Error Corrections: Feedback on mistakes made during the lesson and how to fix them.
- Idioms & Fixed Expressions: Natural phrasing and expressions to help you sound more like a native speaker.
What is Lesson Practice?
Lesson Practice turns your summary into active learning exercises, so you can test your knowledge immediately after the lesson.
The basic version includes Vocabulary & Grammar Practice, tailored from key points from your lesson.
For italki Plus subscribers, there’s also AI Roleplay available where you engage in a simulated conversation based on your lesson's specific context. In addition, the Vocabulary and Grammar Practice can also be completed unlimited times for italki Plus subscribers.
How to Access the summary and the practice?
Once your lesson ends, the summary and the lesson practice are automatically generated on your Lesson Detail page.
Why don't I see a Lesson Summary after my lessons?
- The lessons must be taken in italki Classroom.
- Make sure to turn on your lesson audio recording in the Privacy Settings: Audio recording in italki Classroom
- Your lesson may have been booked with a teacher who does not provide access to learning tools like Lesson Summary and Lesson Practice. You can ask them to turn on their lesson audio recording to enable the learning tools, or you can find teachers who provide these accesses by searching for those with the "Smart Lesson" label.
- It might also be that you're learning a language that's not currently supported by Smart Lesson. The languages supported are English, Spanish, French, Japanese, German, Italian, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Dutch, Greek, Thai, Turkish, Polish, Vietnamese, Swedish, Hindi, Arabic (Levantine), Serbian, Chinese (Cantonese), Czech, Ukrainian, Norwegian, Hungarian, Filipino (Tagalog), Indonesian, Arabic (Egyptian), Romanian, Finnish, Arabic (Modern Standard), Danish, Croatian, Malayalam.
- There might be technical issues creating the summary.
For the above cases, we also provide a backup solution where you can manually create a Lesson Summary with your own notes and text resource.
Why don’t I have Lesson Practice?
Lesson Practice may not be generated if there’s not enough content from the lesson summary, i.e. fewer than 5 vocabulary words, or no grammar points.
