Practice is a series of tailored exercises based on your lesson content, designed to reinforce what you’ve learned.
How does it work?
When you generate lesson summaries from your lessons, knowledge points learned in the lessons will be recorded, such as vocabulary, phrases, and grammar. The practice system will create a variety of exercises targeting these knowledge points, and organize these exercises into bite-sized sessions, so that you can practice the right knowledge at the best time.
Currently, the practice focuses on vocabulary and phrases. Grammar practice will be available soon.
Where can I see the mastery level of my knowledge point?
Every time you answer an exercise correctly, your mastery level for that knowledge point increases. The mastery level can be viewed in the report after each practice session or in the Learning Journal.
In addition, you can mark a knowledge point as ‘mastered’ in the Learning Journal if you feel confident and prefer not to practice it again in the near future.
Why is there no practice available sometimes?
Our system uses spaced repetition to improve long-term retention and reduce forgetting. If your knowledge points are in the review interval, practice exercises might not be available at that moment.
Another possibility is that all your knowledge points have reached mastery, so no further practice is required. In this case, continuing lessons and generating new lesson summaries will introduce new knowledge points.
How do I set my practice schedule and reminders?
You can set your practice schedule and reminders on the practice page. If you don’t want to receive notification, you can turn it off in ‘setting’. Check details here: Notification settings on italki.
